Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film-maker and actor family. The two professions she chose to pursue were her own. As a young girl she made her acting debut in Sergio Cittis Sogni e bisogni. The year 1988 saw her played the principal character in Cristina Comencini's first feature film Zoo (1988) in addition to also being a member of Michele's casting on The Church (1989). In 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's daughter as the Red Wood Pigeon. (Also directed by Moretti). Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was the film that launched Asia's career off. After playing the role of young girl roles, she went on to play more complex and more mature roles. Cannes International Film Festival received the movie well. She has made three films with her father, Trauma, The Stendhal syndrome, and Phantom of the opera. The Phantom of the Opera is her third film alongside her dad. The year 1993 saw her played Arianna in Carlo Verdone's Perdiamoci di vista, a role so complex that she won the David di Donatello Award as the most outstanding actress. Her next collaboration was with Michel Piccoli on Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion in 1995, which earned her another David di Donatello role as and the title Grolla D'oro. In 1999, Asia was the first to direct a feature film with Scarlet Diva (2000), where she played the main actress and writer for the script. It came out on the 20th of May the 20th of May, 2000 in Italy along with the rest of world. It was also released in Brooklyn, New York it won a award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou, the first daughter of the couple was born in the month of January of 2001. The year 2002 saw Asia in The Red Siren with Jean Marc Barr, and Rob Cohen's Action-Thrille, directed by Vin Diesel. Asia's short stories have also appeared in high-profile publications.
